This site is, in large part, focused on innovative ways to make money in today’s global economy. Profit, of course, is a huge driving force behind capitalism, entrepreneurship and investing, but so is having a positive influence on the community and people around you. So when I saw these videos by Johal on Youtube, I had to share them.
Regularly conducting what he calls ‘social experiments’ on camera, Johal’s videos are eye-opening. They demonstrate how various people from a range of demographics respond to unusual circumstances that often require a choice of being honest and caring, or dishonest and self-absorbed.
No, Money Doesn’t Make You Classy
One thing that has always rubbed me the wrong way is how we define social classes (i.e. lower-class, middle class/working-class, upper-class) based on annual income or net-worth; as if to say, the more you make the more distinguished and valuable you are. It’s frustrating that we are so simplistic in defining groups of people. For some reason we have yet to come up with better ways to differentiate in our society.
Thomas Guthrie famously wrote, “and you may know how little God thinks of money by observing on what bad and contemptible characters he often bestows it.”
While money is great, and enables opportunity in life and many positive outcomes, it is the furthest thing from a ‘class’ determiner… Enjoy the videos and have a great weekend.
Stay hungry,
Aaron
