You Know You’re an Entrepreneur When…
Kate Upton and Entrepreneurship

There’s a famous quote about being an entrepreneur:

“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.”

How true.

Throughout the adventures of entrepreneurship you are certain to experience some ‘unique’ moments exclusive to entrepreneurs. And until you’ve had some of these experiences, well, you just aren’t a real entrepreneur 🙂

Do you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur?

You Know You’re an Entrepreneur When…

1.    Neighbours think you’re a drug dealer because of your odd hours

2.    You are worth millions but can’t get a mortgage

3.    Your desk chair is molded perfectly to your butt while your leather sofa at home is in pristine condition

4.    You have posters of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos in your house

5.    Your pool table doubles as a desk

6.    You’ve gone a week without wearing pants (in that respect, it’s not much different than being unemployed)

7.    Your main food groups are smoothies, smoothies and smoothies

8.    You’ve lived in a house for two years and still haven’t finished unpacking

9.    Your friends discuss the latest episode of Scandal and you have no idea what they are talking about

10.    You have no clue if it’s Saturday or Monday… it doesn’t matter

11.    Your mom can’t explain to her friends what you do for a living

12.    You tell someone what you do for a living for the first time and their response is “must be nice”

13.    There are more books on your bed stand than notches on your belt

14.    You stop referring to yourself as an entrepreneur

15.    You’d rather watch Bloomberg than Baywatch

16.    The only thing playing on your iPhone is an audiobook

17.    You know flight attendants by their first name

18.    Whether you’re a liberal or not, you can’t help but want to vote conservative in the name of lower corporate taxes

19.    The only show on your PVR is Shark Tank

20.    Your dream women are Oprah and Martha Stewart

21.    You remember the day you closed your first deal, but forget your wedding anniversary

22.    You are more impressed with the size of Kate Upton’s business enterprise than her bust

23.    The worst day of your life involved firing someone

24.    You’ve had a conference call while in a washroom

25.    You view regulation as an expense

26.    You realize that all-nighters aren’t just a college thing

27.    Your nephew pitches you on his crazy business idea

28.    You drive the extra 3 miles and pay 10% more to support a local, small business

29.    You’ve borrowed a boardroom

30.    Your teeth are no longer pearly white because your coffee intake is borderline dangerous

Ahhh… living the dream.

Entrepreneurship: It’s fun, crazy and fast-paced. And I think we’re all a little bit nuts to live this way, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Jokes aside, being an entrepreneur gives you a reason to wake up excited every morning. What else can one ask for?
